Job Description - Residential Director

Description

The Worcester County Developmental Center (WCDC) is looking for a Residential Director to join our highly motivated, mission-driven, and client-focused leadership team. The Residential Director is responsible for the direction, management, and supervision of all residential services provided by WCDC. The incumbent is responsible for the leadership of the residential department in accordance with WCDC’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values.   This position is crucial for providing backup coverage, support to residents, ensuring ongoing supervision within the residential program, and maintaining the program's 24/7 operational needs.  

Hours: Monday – Friday; 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. and On-Call Rotation 

Salary:  Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Provide leadership, direction, support, and oversight to the entire residential department.  
  • Maintain formal and informal communications with immediate supervisor, keeping him/her aware of activities and concerns within the program/agency; follow chain of command.  
  • Act as an active member of the leadership team and attend meetings/trainings as required; serve on assigned committees.  
  • Comply with all agency policies and procedures; implement all policies fairly and consistently, including the disciplinary policy when required; participate in the performance evaluation process.  
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve WCDC’s residential program(s); assist with policy development.  
  • Assist with the prescreening of new program referrals and admissions process.  
  • Create and oversee the residential on-call schedule; ensure the distribution of the on-call phone and that documentation is completed and turned in.  
  • Coordinate regular meetings with direct reports and conduct home visits/inspections on a regular basis.  
  • Ensure the completion of monthly QA audits of residential homes and services.  
  • Participate in the interview and hiring process of new staff members, ensuring compliance with COMAR 10.22.02.11 Staffing Requirements.  
  • Ensure staff training requirements are met, including annual updates.  
  • Review and monitor the timesheets of all residential staff members to ensure accuracy and timely submission.  
  • Maintain appropriate staffing ratios, ensuring required ratios are met and monitoring the use of overtime.  
  • Review and approve monthly billing and attendance entries, ensuring compliance with COMAR and HCBS Waiver Regulations.  
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

  • Must be at least 21 years old.   
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required. 
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.  
  • Detail oriented, organized and results driven. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment. 
  • Ability to multitask and remain flexible as your day may quickly and without warning shift in an unexpected direction. 

Education/Experience:  

  • Bachelor's degree required in Human Services or related field. Master’s degree is preferred, although commensurate experience will be considered.  
  • At least 2 - 3 years' experience in human services or related field required. 
  • At least 2 - 3 years of management experience preferred.  
  • At least 1 - 2 years of case management experience preferred. 
  • Microsoft Office experience preferred.  
  • Experience with an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system preferred. 
  • Proven experience with team collaboration and employee engagement and leadership preferred.

 Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand and walk 90% of work time; sit and/or drive 10%. Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull 60 pounds; must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch and reach. All the requirements are necessary in order to properly supervise and assist individuals with disabilities. Should be able to climb stairs/ladder and have good balance. Vision is required in order to drive.
