GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Supervise a staff of mortgage originators and underwriters, and to oversee the day-to -day operations of the department
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Approve/decline or recommend the approval/declination of new mortgage loans to the Loan Review Committee and to the Board of Investment; perform real estate inspections
• Stay current on lending regulations and best practices by attending seminars, meetings and conferences; develop new products and origination methods to keep the bank competitive
• Underwrite employee mortgage applications
• Prepare various mortgage-related reports for various regulatory agencies
• Interview mortgage loan customers
• Coordinate and chair the CRA Committee and maintain CRA files
• Interview potential department members. Oversee HMDA reporting process.
SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED
Extensive knowledge of real estate and mortgage lending regulations, good supervisory and organizational skills; ability to communicate (both verbally and in writing), motivate and delegate; ability to deal with the public; familiarity with secondary marketing and industry best practices
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• 5 + years of lending and underwriting experience with 2 + years in a supervisory role; loan collection, underwriting and credit analysis experience helpful.
