Residential Service Manager –Electrical

 

A growing, established, and reputable company has an immediate opportunity for a Residential Service Manager. This position will be responsible for leading a team of service technicians in service repair and installing residential electrical. The successful candidate will have Three to Five (3 to 5) years of experience in running a service division of an electrical contractor.

 

Responsibilities include the overall profit and loss of the Residential Service Division of the Company. Runs an efficient and profitable service department through productive staffing, customer retention cost controls, achievement of goals, and accurate records for timely billing. In addition, ensures that the service technicians are efficient and effective when meeting the customers’ needs, and provide an excellent customer experience.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Ensures the team follows all electrical codes and standards.
  • Suggests ways to increase revenues and efficiency.
  • Determines the work schedule and assignments.
  • Completes installations and repairs as needed.
  • Oversees training and scheduling of both journeyman and apprentice electricians, which involves determining how to best use and grow each employee.
  • Prepares bids for jobs that require estimates and ensure that the job runs on or below.
  • Provides ongoing technical guidance and support to the team of electricians.
  • Field Visits with technicians to help diagnose and troubleshoot complicated electrical issues and provide viable solutions.
  • Hold technicians accountable to processes, refine procedures where needed and drive consistent remarkable customer experiences.
  • Deals with difficult customers and customer complaints.
  • Coordinates logistics for materials and equipment needed to complete the job.
  • Coordinates with other departments for labor, material, and equipment resources.
  • Attends weekly management accountability meetings.
  • Assists in the performance review and development planning of personnel.
  • Investigates accidents and other safety related issues and takes corrective action as needed.
  • Work closely with the office manager and ensure that invoices are generated and distributed to customers within three days of the close of the project.
  • Holds departmental meetings on a monthly basis.
  • Assists in the collection of past due accounts in working with the office manager.
  • Analyzes service productivity and recommends changes to improve customer service and profitability.
  • Develops and implements a marketing plan which promotes new and repeat business.
  • Follows up on part orders with the warehouse lead, and ensures the parts are available and staged for the technician’s job.
  • Responsible for managing all labor, materials, and equipment costs on a job, and for the overall department as it relates to the company’s profit and loss.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by Management.

 

Essential Qualifications:

  • Educational and experience requirements include a high school diploma and a journeyman’s electrician license.
  • Previous sales and management experience of Three to Five (3 to 5) years in the electrical contracting industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge with the ability to read and understand technical specifications.
  • Strong computer skills and proficient with MS Office products.
  • Able to think creatively and solve problems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle stress.
  • Proven ability to coach and develop others.
  • Ability to comprehend, summarize, edit, and analyze data.
  • Must be well organized, and a self-starter.
  • Demonstrates project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
