Job Description - Residential Student Support Coordinator

Compensation—DOE

Student Advocacy & Case Coordination 

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for students regarding daily needs and concerns. 
  • Advocate for student needs within the treatment team. 
  • Ensure individualized treatment plans are followed consistently in residential, academic, and therapeutic settings.

Daily Support & Supervision 

  • Monitor student routines, ensuring structure and consistency. 
  • Provide guidance and support in daily living skills (hygiene, self-care, organization, time management). 
  • Help students practice therapeutic skills (coping strategies, communication, problem-solving) in real-life settings.

Collaboration With Clinical & Residential Staff 

  • Act as a liaison between students and therapists, teachers, and residential staff. 
  • Participate in treatment team meetings to share observations on progress and challenges. 
  • Ensure clear communication between departments so student care is unified.

Crisis Intervention & Safety 

  • Assist staff in de-escalating behavioral crises. 
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed during incidents. 
  • Support students in processing incidents afterward and reinforce positive coping skills.

Family Communication & Engagement 

  • Maintain regular communication with families/guardians regarding student progress and daily living updates. 
  • Support family involvement in treatment planning, visitation, and discharge preparation.

Documentation & Compliance 

  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, incidents, and interventions.
  • Ensure documentation meets program, state, and accrediting body standards. 
  • Assist in preparing reports for treatment reviews, insurance, or court (if applicable).

  4. Well organized—i.e., able to handle and track paperwork, scheduling, and other clerical/organizational duties
  5. Coordinate events and appointments with multiple departments and delegate effectively
  6. Experience planning activities and events
  7. Effective communicator, advocate, and spokesperson
  8. Strong collaborative skills—must be team oriented!
  9. 1+ years residential experience strongly preferred, but not required
  10. Supervisor experience a plus, but not required

Required Qualifications 

  1. Must be 21 or older
  2. Must be able to pass a background check and motor vehicle check
  3. Must have a current Utah driver’s license
  4. Will need to be CPR/First Aid (within first 30 days of employment) and Crisis Intervention trained within 30 days of employment (we provide)
  5. Work well in a team setting environment
