Job Description - Resort Food & Beverage Shift Manager - Full Time (Swing)

We are currently seeking a talented individual to become a Resort F&B Shift Manager.  An individual could be successful if they possess the following.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Resort Food & Beverage Manger manages Team Members for the Food Court, Lobby Bar, Pool Bar and Room Service. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation for the team members. Carries out Management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Always presents a friendly and professional image at the Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort.  The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary:

  • Oversees the food service operations in assigned outlet ensuring exceptional service to all guests.
  • Assures outlets operate within established departmental guidelines, operating procedures and meets required governmental regulations.
  • Maintains an awareness of competitors food service times, standards and operations, and recommends improvements and/or changes in Departmental services.
  • Coordinates departmental participation at planning sessions for events and promotions on new product offerings.
  • Upholds, monitors and reviews the policies, procedures and rules of the department and recommends changes and/or improvements.
  • Responsible for meeting labor cost, liquor, beer and wine costs and revenue goals. 
  • Ensures guest alcohol consumption is monitored and authorizes any cut-offs.
  • Promotes teamwork amongst team members, and follows the philosophy of the Food & Beverage Department. Presents, both to subordinate staff and other departments, a thorough knowledge of Upscale service standards related to the Food & Beverage operations, and product marketing.
  • Initiates a positive guest experience when working any guest contact position by providing a welcome and/or greeting, making eye contact, smiling, and bidding a warm farewell.
  • Conducts inspections and maintains cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Ensures restaurant operates within established departmental guidelines, operating procedures and meets required governmental regulations.
  • Monitors Food & Beverage services to guests, and ensures customer complaints are resolved immediately and that the highest possible service standards are maintained.
  • Ensures the overall cleanliness, safety, and security of all areas.
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Regular Punctual Attendance
  • Ability to work required overtime
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS  

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3-5 years leadership in casino food and beverage experience
  • Experience in full-service high-volume operation in a high-end resort
  • Successful experience in building high-performance teams
  • A track record of stability in previous employment
  • Multi-Unit experience is a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience with InfoGenesis system.
  • Must have strong profit and loss operational knowledge
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products.
  • Must have excellent customer service and communication skills.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES                                                     

This job has supervisory responsibilities.

  • Manages work procedures and expedites workflow.
  • Provides coaching and counseling to team members.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in in English may also be required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.
  • Must successfully complete R.S.A.
  • ServSafe certified.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to stand and walk for the majority of the shift. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and must have the ability to stand, climb, push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Employee could be exposed to an environment containing unrestricted second-hand tobacco smoke.
