About Climate Justice Alliance
Climate Justice Alliance (CJA) was formed in 2013 to create a new center of gravity in the climate movement by uniting frontline communities and organizations into a formidable force. Our translocal organizing strategy and mobilizing capacity is building a Just Transition away from extractive systems of production, consumption and political oppression, and towards resilient, regenerative and equitable economies. We believe that the process of transition must place race, gender and class at the center of the solutions equation in order to make it a truly Just Transition.
We are a unique alliance of 98 community, frontline, and environmental justice organizations; movement networks; and support organizations at the forefront of climate change. Our members are multicultural, intergenerational, and prioritize leadership among women, gender-oppressed, and persons of color. They come from traditionally underrepresented constituencies, including Indigenous Peoples, African American, Latinx, Asian Pacific Islander, and low-income white communities, often often located near toxic, polluting industries such as oil refineries, fracking wells, coal mines, power plants, and pipelines; rails, ports, and other major transportation corridors; landfills and incinerators; and industrial agriculture.
About the role
Climate Justice Alliance is seeking a dynamic Resource Mobilization Director to join our members in challenging the extractive history and structure of philanthropy in order to build a Just Transition and invest in living, local, resilient economies. We are living in an exciting moment where there is a lot of momentum to resource frontlines and their solutions, especially in light of the Republican administration and their control of the Senate and House - we need someone to leverage this movement while also partnering with our members to ensure that funding doesn’t continue to go to techno-fixes and market schemes.
The Resource Mobilization Director focuses on institutional fundraising as well as leading the Resource Mobilization team. The Director will be responsible for setting a clear, strategic vision to move our strategic plan, and will bring a creative, collaborative, and empathetic leadership style to their work with CJA staff and members. They are committed to equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and justice; bring a people-centered and accountable approach to achieving shared vision; and can demonstrate a history of significant fundraising. As the leader of the Resource Mobilization Team they will report to the Executive Director.
