Job Description - Resource Specialist Team Support Nutrition

SMAA is seeking a 30-hour per week Resource Specialist, Team Support at our South Portland Meal Site. The Resource Specialist (Team Support, Nutrition) is responsible for conducting thorough assessments, evaluations, and analyses to determine eligibility, needs, and appropriate services and programming for individuals. The role requires a strong understanding of assessment tools and the ability to work with diverse populations. The Resource Specialist will work closely with other team members, community-based organizations, and agency partners to ensure accurate, timely, and effective assessments while also linking to appropriate resources and making referrals, when needed. This position also supports the Resource Specialist, Team Lead, to provide the Home Delivered and Congregate Meal Programs at the meal site.  Site duties will include meal ordering, meal packing and delivery, inventory management and control, volunteer management, and direct contact with clients.



Responsibilities



  1. Performs detailed assessments using standardized tools, interview, and observation techniques and within designated timeline.

  2. Works collaboratively with internal teams, external agencies, and other stakeholders, to ensure assessments are accurate and meet required standards.

  3. Engages with clients to explain the assessment process and gather necessary information.

  4. Ensures all assessments are conducted in accordance with regulations and SMAA policies.

  5. Provides linkage to resources when needs are identified and/or referral to internal team when further intervention is required.

  6. Assists the Team Lead with the recruitment, training and recognition of volunteers.

  7. Supports meal ordering, preparation and ensures meal delivery to homebound clients and congregate participants.

  8. Supports inventory management as needed.

  9. Completes accurate reports in a timely fashion.

  10. Cooperates fully with and lends full support to all program initiatives.

  11. Attends SMAA meetings and trainings as requested.

  12. Responds to calls and email inquiries as needed.

  13. Provides backup for the Team Lead as needed.



Qualifications: The following requirements and skills are considered essential:



  • At least two years of experience in nutrition programs preferred, including oversight of volunteers.

  • Experience working with older adults preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to deal tactfully with clients, staff, volunteers and the general

  • Experience or ability to learn how to manage meal inventories and keep accurate records.

  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and database usage.

  • Pass the SMAA criminal background check and driving record check.

  • Access to reliable transportation.


Education/Knowledge Requirements:  The following education requirements are considered essential:



  • High school diploma or the equivalent.

  • Valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and safe driving record.



 


Salary and Benefits
This is a 30-hour per week with a starting pay of $18.00 per hour.
