Position Overview:
The Resource Teacher is a key member of the Ascend Program, providing individualized educational therapy to students with learning differences. This role involves delivering NILD and TEACH techniques to support students, collaborating with teachers and families, and supporting students’ academic, emotional, and developmental growth. This position requires a collaborative mindset, strong communication skills, and a deep commitment to supporting students' unique learning needs.
Essential Job Functions:
· Conduct Educational Therapy sessions for a caseload of students (usually 8/9 full-time students)
· Use NILD techniques and programs to provide educational therapy support to students
· Use Teach techniques to conduct sessions for specific K-1st grade students
· Creating and updating Accommodation and Modification plans for caseload students in Ascend
· Monitor student’s classroom grades and assist in re-testing if necessary and/or coordinating with the classroom teacher for retesting students
· Maintain NILD certification through required continuing education(conferences/webinars/summer training)
· Write Semester and Annual Reports with guidance from the Ascend Director
· Plan session activities and complete student records for each session
· Deliver 60 sessions of therapy for each assigned student
· Write annual reports at the end of the school year, before end-of-year parent conferences
· Conduct reading or math groups in K-5 as needed for resource enrichment
· Collaborate with Educational Therapists on best practices
· Maintain records of session numbers and plan for make-up sessions when needed.
· Provide Quarterly updates to the Ascend Director
· Inform the Ascend Director of needed supplies, books, and testing materials
· Attend new parent meetings and present informative information with other Educational Therapists in the Ascend group
· Administer annual testing of students on caseload, as well as other students as needed or assigned by the Ascend Director
· Maintain constant communication with the parents of students in the program, develop a good rapport, and maintain confidentiality of students' information.
· Meet with parents to review the annual report, discuss progress, and plan for the following year
· Utilize teaching strategies that cater to students’ unique learning needs
· Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support student's academic success
· Monitor and track students’ progress and modify teaching strategies as needed
· Provide strategies to enhance students’ study and organizational skills
· Provide emotional support to students facing academic challenges and refer to the CCA Counselor when needed
· Any other duties as assigned by the Director of Ascend
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field
· Certification in NILD Educational Therapy or actively pursuing NILD certification
· Experience working with students with learning differences in a one-on-one or small group setting
· Familiarity with NILD techniques and the ability to apply these within structured therapy sessions
· Ability to conduct sessions using TEACH techniques, particularly with kindergarten and 1st-grade students
· Strong written and verbal communication skills for report writing and parent communication
· Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, administrators, and families
