Respiratory Tech/EKG Tech

Description

Under the supervision of a Physician and a Respiratory Therapist, the Respiratory Tech is expected to perform EKG’s, assist with Pulmonary Function Testing and other approved outpatient services, stock supplies and oxygen tanks.

Requirements

Job Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
• BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire and maintained during employment.
• Personal Job-Related Skills: Knowledge of EKG machine and components.
• Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of the position require extended periods of standing and walking, with some bending and reaching when providing patient care. Pushing and pulling of equipment, lifting of supplies up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting or supporting patients who may suddenly become weak or helpless.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Working as part of a team of health care professionals to manage patient care by assisting with medical procedures.
2. Inspecting, testing, cleaning, and maintaining respiratory therapy equipment to ensure it is functioning safely and efficiently.
3. Maintaining charts that contain patient identification and therapy information.
4. Relaying blood analysis results to a physician.
5. Explaining health care treatment procedures to patients to gain cooperation.
6. Checking pulmonary function in patients.
7. Perform any other duties assigned by supervisor.
