JOB SUMMARY:
The Registered Respiratory Therapist,
Transport, provides patient care in a mobile environment to high-risk patients
and their families being transported. The Respiratory Therapist, Transport acts
as a hospital-wide resource for establishing and maintaining a high-quality
standard of care for the neonatal and pediatric transport population.
Accountable for organizing, implementing, and coordinating patient care as
directed by the Physician for the purpose of stabilization of the transfer to a
tertiary or Special Care Center.
QUALIFICATIONS- EDUCATION - Associate's or
2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification- EXPERIENCE - 2

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - ACLS (ACLS)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Pedi Adv Life
Support (PALS) Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist (NPS): Must have an RRT-NPS from
the NBRC upon hire or transfer or within 1 year. Respiratory Care Practitioner
(RCP): Licensed by the State of Texas Medical Board as a Respiratory Care
Practitioner. Reg Respiratory Therapist (RRT): Registered Respiratory Therapist
(RRT) from the NBRC.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE: Performs and
directs the administration of respiratory care services (including but not
limited to oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, inhaled medication, airway
clearance, intubation, invasive and non-invasive ventilation, and bedside
spirometry), as ordered by a patient attending physician, in a quality manner
that is in accordance with established procedures. Administers cardiopulmonary
resuscitation in emergency situations. Reviews physician's orders, examines
patient's diagnostic test results and provides appropriate therapy based on the
patient's current clinical condition. If appropriate, implements approved
protocols as directed by a physician. Assists in the development,
implementation, and evaluation of departmental operations, policies,
procedures, products, and programs relating to the transport environment and
patient population. Demonstrates data skills necessary to resolve complex
patient problems in a mobile environment, develop standards of care and
procedures, and evaluate the quality of respiratory care. Documents all
treatments and therapies given, any supplies used and accurately files all
corresponding charges. Reports outcomes of therapeutic interventions and makes
recommendations as appropriate. Adheres to established policies including but
not limited to infection control and isolation policies, HIPPA, time and
attendance, and social media.
