Respiratory Therapist- Prn - Day Shift

Plan, implement and evaluate diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory services to assist in the management of residents with cardiopulmonary and related disorders. Provide technical support for all equipment related to the nursing center’s practice of Respiratory Therapy. Provide training and competency testing to nursing department.

Provide/coordinate clinical respiratory services under physician orders

Perform respiratory/clinical assessments

Consult with physicians and healthcare professionals regarding patient/resident status

Monitor resident progress and update respiratory care plan

Provide general respiratory therapeutic services including oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, humidification therapy, suction therapy

Document resident procedures, organize and analyze data, maintain accurate records

Communicate relevant resident information to appropriate providers and caregivers while protecting confidential information

Participate in interdisciplinary resident rounds and meetings

Educate residents/resident representatives with regard to relevant disease, medications, equipment, purpose/steps/benefits/risks of procedures and alternatives

Participate in discharge planning

Operate, provide technical support, perform troubleshooting and basic maintenance, cleaning and set-up for all respiratory and related equipment

Check the 24hour report daily in order to be aware of changes in the resident’s condition and/or plan of treatment

Assist with Total Care Plan meetings as indicated
