Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
• Connecticut state license (required)
• ACLS certification (required within one year if cross-training in Cardiology)
• Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT), RPFT preferred
• Strong patient care, critical thinking, and teamwork skills

What You’ll Do

• Review physician orders, assess patients, and administer respiratory therapies
• Monitor treatment effectiveness, modify plans, and escalate when needed
• Educate patients and families on therapy goals, equipment use, and care management
• Perform resuscitation, airway management, and emergency interventions as required
• Conduct diagnostic procedures, including EKGs, ABGs, and pulmonary function testing (if cross-trained)
• Safely operate respiratory and monitoring equipment, troubleshooting when necessary
• Provide support for the NICU by transporting adult patients who require respiratory care
