Respite Worker

Position: Respite Worker (Fremont)

Job Type: Part Time

Pay: $17.25-$20.05/hourly, depending on the number of clients.

JOB DESCRIPTION and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Establishes and maintains a supportive relationship with participants and their families.


• Provides appropriate care, supervision and support to protect the consumer’s safety in the absence of a family member


• Engages the consumer to participate in his/her choices of activities in the absence of a family member


• Assists in attending to basic self-help needs and other activities that would ordinarily be performed by the family member


• Provides intermittent or regularly scheduled temporary non-medical care and supervision at the consumer’s own home.


• Respects the privacy of participants and maintains confidentiality of information obtained in the course of professional services.


• Minimizes health, safety and any other risks to the well-being of participants.


• Performs first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and other emergency services (e.g. evacuation during a fire) as appropriate.


• Provides continuous supervision for participants: ensure participants' safety and makes sure their needs are met.


• Prepare special incident, child abuse and adult dependent abuse reports as necessary.


• Communicates effectively and proactively with the Program Coordinator with regard to all participant issues including situations when a participant becomes a danger to self or others, there is a sudden illness or their non-aversive behavioral plan cannot be implemented as agreed upon.


• Fosters maximum self-determination on the part of participants

COMPANY WIDE JOB REQUIREMENTS:
