Restaurant Cashier/Server Job Description (with Toast POS Experience)

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet customers warmly and assist with placing orders.
  

• Operate the Toast POS system to process payments (cash, credit/debit cards, mobile payments, and gift cards).
  

• Ensure accurate handling of cash and balancing the register at the end of each shift.
  

• Provide menu information and answer customer questions regarding food and beverages.
  

• Assist with packaging takeout orders and ensuring order accuracy.
  

• Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and servers to ensure a seamless workflow.
  

• Maintain a clean and organized cashier station and dining area.
  

• Handle refunds, discounts, and loyalty programs as per company policy.
  

• Assist with closing duties, including counting cash, reconciling transactions, and generating sales reports.
  

• Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
  

Qualifications & Skills:

• Previous experience as a cashier in a restaurant setting is preferred.
  

• Proficiency with Toast POS system is required.
  

• Strong communication and customer service skills.
  

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.
  

• Basic math skills and attention to detail for handling transactions accurately.
  

• Reliability, professionalism, and a positive attitude.
  

• Ability to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift to 25 lbs.
