Restaurant Manager / Assistant Manager – Irish Pub
Position Summary
The Restaurant Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the pub, ensuring exceptional guest service, maintaining high food and beverage quality standards, and supporting a positive team culture. This role works closely with ownership and senior management to ensure efficient operations, profitability, and an authentic Irish hospitality experience.
Essential Responsibilities
Guest Experience
- Deliver outstanding hospitality and create a welcoming atmosphere for all guests.
- Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally.
- Ensure consistent service standards throughout every shift.
- Build relationships with regular guests and foster customer loyalty.
Operations
- Manage daily front-of-house operations during assigned shifts.
- Open and close the restaurant according to company procedures.
- Ensure cleanliness, organization, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Monitor dining room, bar, and patio operations to maintain smooth service.
- Coordinate with kitchen leadership to ensure timely food service.
Team Leadership
- Supervise, coach, and motivate front-of-house staff.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training new employees.
- Schedule staff based on business needs and labor goals.
- Conduct shift meetings and communicate daily priorities.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
Financial Responsibilities
- Control labor costs during shifts.
- Monitor cash handling procedures and complete cash reconciliation.
- Assist in managing inventory and ordering supplies.
- Help reduce waste and control food and beverage costs.
- Support initiatives to increase sales and profitability.
Food & Beverage Standards
- Ensure all food and beverages meet company quality standards.
- Verify compliance with responsible alcohol service regulations.
- Monitor cleanliness and presentation of the bar, dining room, and service areas.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain compliance with all local health, sanitation, and liquor laws.
- Ensure employees follow safety procedures and company policies.
- Report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant, pub, or bar management experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
- Knowledge of food safety and responsible alcohol service practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficiency with POS systems and basic computer applications.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lift up to 40 pounds.
- Bend, reach, and move throughout the restaurant.
