Description of Work

Do you enjoy hospitality and being of service to others? The Division of Parks and Recreation is seeking a dynamic Restaurant Supervisor for the Vade Mecum Restaurant at Hanging Rock State Park.

The Restaurant Supervisor is a lead position and is responsible for all aspects of food service for the Front/Back of House and dining operations and general supervision of dining services staffing.

Key Responsibilities
• General knowledge of established food service procedures and techniques.
• Coordinate daily Front/Back of House restaurant operations.
• Oversee all food service operations of the restaurant and catering services.
• Manage daily fiscal operations, financial performance reports, and operational costs.
• Organize, implement, and supervise dining service shifts and subordinate employees; and adjust daily work schedule and/or routines.
• Oversee guest services and resolve customer complaints by responding efficiently and accurately and appraise staff performance and provide feedback to improve productivity.
• Plan, inspect, and estimate needed supplies and materials; to establish and maintain necessary records and inventory control.
• Basic knowledge of appropriate methods of cleaning and sanitizing equipment and smallwares.
• Basic knowledge of preparation, cooking, and baking procedures.
• Communication skills – Set the tone of the restaurant, providing vocal direction and updates.

Recruitment Range: $31,200 - $39,971

Candidates meet the minimum qualifications of this position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. Vacancy specific knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) and/or management preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following are preferred:

  • Demonstrated experience working in hospitality/restaurant setting and/or previous Front/Back of House management.

  • Proficient in the use of a point-of-sale system.

  • Demonstrated experience supervising dining/food service subordinates and creating work schedules for staff.

  • Demonstrated experience training others in food service/restaurant setting.

Position/Physical Requirements:

  • Typical work schedule varies with hours between Monday - Sunday 6:00AM to 10:00PM; with the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.

  • Must have or be able to stand for prolonged periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Must be able to frequently exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license issued from within the United States or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment.

Within 90 days of hire date, must have the ability to obtain and maintain:

  • ServSafe Food Safety Certification

  • ServSafe Alcohol Certification
