Job Description - Restorative Practices Coach

Description

The Restorative Practices Coach is responsible for implementing and supporting a school-wide restorative approach to student discipline. This role focuses on building a positive school culture, reducing disciplinary infractions, and fostering student accountability and conflict resolution through restorative strategies. The coach will work closely with students, staff, and families to promote social-emotional growth, maintain a supportive learning environment, and ensure alignment with the school’s mission of holistic and genius-awakening education. 

Reports to: Principal 

Network Support: Senior Director of Culture and Community Wellness

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Restorative Discipline & Student Support

  • Facilitate restorative circles, mediations, and conferences to address student conflicts and behavioral concerns
  • Develop and implement intervention plans that prioritize reflection, accountability, and positive behavioral change
  • Work directly with students to support their social-emotional development and reintegration after discipline incidents
  • Track discipline data and analyze trends to identify areas for improvement and targeted interventions
  • Collaborate with Assistant Principals to ensure restorative practices are aligned with school-wide discipline policies and consistently implemented in response to student behaviors
  • Support assistant principals in identifying students at risk for recurring behavioral challenges and provide targeted restorative interventions

Staff Training & Support

  • Train and coach teachers and staff on restorative practices, de-escalation strategies, and trauma-informed discipline approaches
  • Support teachers in implementing proactive classroom management strategies to reduce disruptions
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure consistent application of restorative discipline across all grade levels
  • Partner with assistant principals to monitor staff adherence to restorative practices and provide feedback and additional coaching as needed
  • Collaborate with SST Coordinator in support of Tier 2-4 behavior students.

Family & Community Engagement

  • Partner with families to address student behavior concerns using a restorative approach
  • Communicate with parents/guardians about discipline incidents, interventions, and strategies for student success
  • Build relationships with community organizations to provide additional support and resources for students

Collaboration & School Culture

  • Serve as a key member of the school’s leadership team to align restorative practices with broader school goals
  • Lead school-wide initiatives that promote positive behavior, character development, and conflict resolution
  • Assist with the  refinement of school discipline policies to ensure they are equitable and restorative
  • Collaborate closely with assistant principals to monitor the effectiveness of restorative discipline strategies, adjusting interventions and supports as needed to create a more supportive and inclusive school culture
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and data analysis skills for informed intervention

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Be a United States citizen or otherwise have authorization to work in the United States
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Experience working with K-8 students in an urban school setting.
  • Experience implementing restorative practices and SEL curriculum

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS: 

  • Salary: $50,875.00
  • Compensation aligned with The Kindezi Schools’ Coordinator salary schedule
  • Teacher Retirement System (TRS) pension, 403b plan, paid time off, vacation, health, vision, and dental insurance, employer-paid life insurance, and short and long-term disability benefits.

  • Work Days: 202 days
  • Salaried, Full-Time, Exempt
