DEPARTMENT:  University Retail & Postal Center

LOCATION: On-campus, located in Tiffin, OH

JOB TYPE: Full-time

Tiffin University (TU) was founded in 1888 and offers accredited undergraduate and graduate degrees in business administration, criminal justice, social sciences, creative and media arts, humanities, education, sciences, technology, and health. The University's campus in Tiffin, Ohio, blends traditional historic and modern buildings, creating a vibrant and welcoming educational community for its students, faculty, and staff. Students can pursue associate, undergraduate, and graduate programs both on campus and online, as well as at Terra State Community College. In addition, TU offers Bachelor's in Business Administration and Master's of Business Administration degrees in Bucharest, Romania, and educational opportunities for students from Switzerland and Latin America. The University also provides an online Ph.D. program in Global Leadership and Change.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Tiffin University is seeking a friendly, detail-oriented Retail & Postal Associate to support the daily operations of The Exchange 1888, our on-campus store and mail center. This individual plays a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service, supporting retail sales and merchandising, processing mail and packages using tracking software, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. Responsibilities also include assisting with the store’s social media presence to engage the campus community. This position requires weekend availability and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused setting.


Requirements

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Customer Service & Sales

  • Provide outstanding service to students, faculty, staff, and guests
  • Resolve customer inquiries, complaints, returns, and exchanges with professionalism

Store Operations & Merchandising

  • Support store opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and sales reporting
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and visually engaging sales floor
  • Receive, price, and display new merchandise
  • Assist with special promotions, seasonal displays, and events

Mail Center Operations

  • Sort, process, and deliver incoming and outgoing mail and packages
  • Use package tracking system software to log, manage, and notify recipients of deliveries
  • Operate mailing systems and ensure compliance with postal and courier regulations
  • Update departmental mail stations and maintain accurate records

Technology & Reporting

  • Use point-of-sale and inventory management systems (Lightspeed)
  • Use mail tracking software for package intake and delivery
  • Assist in generating and analyzing basic sales and inventory reports

Social Media & Campus Engagement

  • Assist with creating and posting engaging content for the store’s Instagram, Facebook, and other social media platforms
  • Highlight new merchandise, events, promotions, and campus life
  • Collaborate with management to maintain brand consistency across all digital platforms

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with other team members and student employees
  • Assist in training student workers and delegating daily tasks
  • Support campus-wide events and outreach

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/ABILITIES FOR THE JOB

Education

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience

  • 1-3 years of retail or customer service experience preferred
  • Experience with mailroom or shipping operations is a plus
  • Experience with social media content creation and tracking systems preferred

Other

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, etc.)
  • Experience using tracking or inventory software (e.g., SCLogic, Notifii, or similar)
  • Must be available to work weekends as part of a rotating schedule
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and be on your feet for extended periods
