Retail Customer Service Associate

Sparrow Company is seeking a friendly, dependable, and customer-focused Retail Customer Service Associate to join a wholesale grocery store in El Paso, TX. This position is responsible for providing outstanding customer service, assisting customers with merchandise questions, and maintaining clean, organized, and properly stocked merchandise displays. The ideal candidate will have previous retail experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Provide outstanding customer service by responding to customer questions, concerns, and issues with courtesy and professionalism
• Assist customers with questions regarding merchandise, products, pricing, and services
• Provide accurate information about merchandise and services
• Maintain merchandise displays to create a fresh, organized, and inviting atmosphere
• Ensure merchandise is properly displayed and identified based on whether it is sold by the individual item or package
• Ensure correct signs and pricing are displayed for merchandise
• Maintain proper rotation of merchandise
• Remove damaged merchandise from the sales floor and place it in the designated area
• Return misplaced merchandise to its assigned location
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe sales floor areas
• Address customer concerns with a solution-focused approach and refer unresolved issues to supervisors or managers as needed
• Receive training and provide backup cashier support when needed
• Work cooperatively with team members and management to support daily store operations
• Perform other related duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Minimum six (6) months of related retail work experience
• Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels and from diverse backgrounds
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work assignments with a positive attitude
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Dependable, flexible, and willing to assist with various store operations
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, with occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing ladders, and working at elevated heights
• Ability to lift, push, and carry items weighing less than 25 pounds and up to 80 pounds
• Ability to work around moving mechanical equipment and in varying weather conditions, including extreme cold temperatures
• Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment
