Job Description - Retail Store Manager

Retail Store Manager — Ranger Station

Location: 12 South (Nashville, TN)
Type: Full-Time
Reports to: Director of Retail

About Ranger Station

Ranger Station creates premium fragrances designed to elevate the everyday. From candles poured in reusable cocktail glasses to fine fragrances inspired by the outdoors, we build products rooted in craftsmanship, story, and sensory experience. Our retail spaces bring that world to life—warm, intentional, and unmistakably Ranger Station.

As Store Manager, you will lead the 12 South location with excellence, ensuring every detail—from service to scent to visual storytelling—reflects the brand.

Role Overview

The Store Manager is the steward of the in-store experience and the leader of a high-performing team. You will drive sales through genuine hospitality, product knowledge, and clienteling while maintaining operational rigor and an elevated environment. This role blends people leadership, retail strategy, and brand execution to deliver an exceptional experience—every day, every customer, every touchpoint.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Experience & Sales Leadership

  • Set the standard for best-in-class hospitality: welcoming, informed, and deeply attentive.

  • Lead on the floor—actively selling, coaching in the moment, and building lasting customer relationships.

  • Drive performance against daily, weekly, and monthly goals; identify opportunities and execute action plans.

  • Build a strong clienteling culture (appointments, follow-ups, repeat business, gifting, and seasonal outreach).

  • Plan and execute in-store events and fragrance activations that feel curated, not “promotional.”

Team Leadership & Development

  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and train a team that reflects Ranger Station’s warmth, curiosity, and standards.

  • Coach consistently through feedback, recognition, and performance conversations; develop internal talent.

  • Build schedules that balance business needs, labor efficiency, and a strong customer experience during peak traffic.

  • Create a store culture rooted in accountability, inclusion, professionalism, and momentum.

Operations & Inventory Excellence

  • Own daily operations: opening/closing procedures, cash handling, POS integrity, and operational compliance.

  • Maintain inventory accuracy through disciplined receiving, replenishment, cycle counts, and organization.

  • Execute loss prevention, safety, and cleanliness standards to protect both product and experience.

  • Oversee online order fulfillment and in-store pickup with speed, accuracy, and premium presentation.

Visual Merchandising & Brand Standards

  • Maintain an impeccable store environment—clean, organized, intentional, and on-brand.

  • Execute seasonal merchandising updates with precision and consistency to HQ direction.

  • Keep testers and scent stations pristine; ensure product storytelling is clear and elevated.

  • Uphold brand ambiance daily (scent, sound, lighting)—details matter here.

Communication & Reporting

  • Serve as the voice of the customer—share feedback, insights, and product trends with HQ.

  • Track KPIs and performance drivers; deliver regular business recaps and action-oriented updates.

  • Maintain clear, timely communication with leadership and cross-functional partners to ensure alignment.

Qualifications

  • Proven retail leadership experience with a track record of driving sales and developing teams.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and operational skills; calm under pressure, sharp on details.

  • Natural hospitality and confidence in storytelling—able to educate without overwhelming.

  • Passion for fragrance, design, and creating meaningful customer connections.

  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and special events as required.

What Success Looks Like

  • The store consistently meets or exceeds sales goals through service, repeat customers, and team performance.

  • The team is engaged, coached, and operating with clear expectations and elevated standards.

  • Operations run cleanly and predictably—inventory is accurate, fulfillment is tight, and the store is always ready.

  • The space feels unmistakably Ranger Station: warm, premium, intentional, and story-driven.

Perks

  • Competitive salary + performance bonus

  • Product allowance + employee discount

  • Growth opportunities within a creative, expanding brand

  • A one-of-a-kind retail environment focused on storytelling and experience
