Job Description - Retention Specialist

Seattle Colleges is looking to hire a Retention Specialist in the Seattle Promise Department. This position will be located at our South Seattle Campus.

Minimum Salary for this position is $71,466 annually.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Director of Advising and working closely with the Seattle Promise Executive Director the Retention Specialist will be responsible for providing enrollment and retention assistance to Seattle Promise students. This position provides direct advising services to students and specializes in the development, coordination, and facilitation of Seattle Promise retention-related programming including but not limited to Readiness Academy and Summer Bridge programming, mandatory quarterly check-ins, satisfactory academic progress navigation, and other activities related to encouraging student persistence. The Retention Specialist will assist the Director of Advising and the Seattle Promise Executive Director with program development, data collection and analysis, and implementing strategies associated with retaining students leading to successful completion of a degree or credential. This position will be expected to work occasionally in the evening as program needs demand.

The position is expected to work on campus Monday-Thursday during normal business hours, with an optional telecommute day on Fridays.

This position is an exempt role governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with representation by AFT-SPS and subject to union shop provisions.

What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)

* You have a Bachelors degree or equivalent in education, student development, psychology, human relations, or related field.* You have two years¿ experience or equivalent advising college and/or high school students in an education or social services setting.* You have strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly related to distilling complex concepts to a diverse group of students* You have ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines while being attentive to detail* You have the ability to work well under time pressure and on high-stakes projects* You are detail-oriented with experience consistently delivering high quality work products
