People Management

• Hiring

    - Partner with Human Resources Manager to anticipate additional staffing needs and/or work to successfully fill openings

    - Conduct interviews and make ultimate hiring decisions for the department

• Training

    - Ensure that training protocols are adhered to and updated as necessary to ensure all staff are adequately trained

    - Facilitate any continuing education required to foster an environment of growth and learning for staff

    - Conduct department meetings regularly to update staff on any departmental changes and utilize as additional training opportunities

    - Promote professional development for staff by creating and maintaining certification plans, remain cognizant of staff professional goals and make every effort to allow for and cultivate that growth

• Performance Management

    - Provide continuous feedback to staff in regards to areas that may need improvement or areas that are well above company standards

    -Conduct performance reviews annually that set goals, and address and areas that need improvement

• Employee Relations

    - Continuously provide open lines of communication to staff in order to promote personal and professional growth for staff

    - Provide training and guidance when necessary in regards to conflict resolutions

    - Main point of contact for other departments when clinical questions arise

    - Coordinate mutually beneficial relationships with local schools such as VCOM

    -Maintain and promote a positive and productive work environment

Clinical Operations

• Work directly with accounting manager to ensure monthly expenses are properly allocated to the retina department
• Monitor expense reports and make cost effective recommendations 
• Review Clinical Research contracts and budgets
• Ensure that adequate clinic and office supplies are ordered
• Ensure that hazardous wastes are properly disposed of and retrieved by waste management
• Monitor clinic schedules and make recommendations to improve efficiency and patient care
• Modify schedule templates as directed by physicians
• Coordinate with drug representatives to facilitate meetings and education with physicians and staff

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• A minimum of two years management experience preferred, experience in healthcare management a plus
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of clinical protocols and regulatory requirements
• Ability to think strategically and make decisions that align with the organization's goals
