Job Description - Revenue Cycle Specialist

We are currently seeking a Revenue Cycle Specialist to join our team!


The Revenue Cycle Specialist will be responsible for timely submission of all billing elements for multiple Silverado Hospice sites. This role involves working with the Revenue Cycle Team and hospice sites to ensure timely and accurate billing according to Medicare and Medicaid guidelines to maximize collections. This position requires close collaboration with others, excellent technical skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of billing and collections, including claim submission, correction, and appeals.


Schedule: In-office, Monday-Friday

Qualifications:



  • 2 years of Medical Billing experience; Hospice billing experience preferred

  • Medical Billing & Coding Certification preferred

  • Knowledge of Medicare Hospice billing guidelines

  • Competency in Microsoft Office and technical knowledge to learn new software as needed

  • Associates must have reliable means of transportation to consistently meet attendance and punctuality standards. This role does not require a valid driver’s license or personal vehicle unless specified in additional job requirements


What you'll be doing: 



  • Prepare and submit Notices of Election, Notices of Termination/Revocation, and daily billing using EDI and manual data entry

  • Utilize Accounts Receivable Aging reports, Activity Reports, Cash Posting Reports, and Remittance Advice/Explanation of Benefits

  • Monitor claim status to address rejections, returned claims, and denials promptly

  • Document claims status and collections activities in the Accounts Receivable system, setting and completing follow-up actions as scheduled

  • Identify issues that could cause a claim to be rejected or denied and request necessary information from sites or management promptly

  • Prepare and submit effective Provider Dispute Resolution (PDR) requests and Appeals

  • Post cash and analyze cash application transactions, including CARC and RARC codes

  • Independently research issues, determine root causes, attempt resolution, and refer to management when necessary

  • Continuously update knowledge of Medicare Guidelines for Hospice Billing to ensure compliance

  • Effectively manages timely filing of claims and appeals within contractually defined terms

  • Perform additional duties as assigned
