Job Description - RF Modeler/Simulation Engineer

## The group you\u2019ll be a part of\n\n \n\nIn the Global Products Group, we are dedicated to excellence in the design and engineering of Lam\u0027s etch and deposition products. We drive innovation to ensure our cutting-edge solutions are helping to solve the biggest challenges in the semiconductor industry. \n\n \n\n## The impact you\u2019ll make\n\nJoin Lam as an Electrical Engineer and you\u0027ll be at the forefront, designing and developing solutions for advanced applications. Your role involves designing and analyzing subsystems, conducting experimental tests, and conducting simulations and analyzing results to create reliable cutting-edge solutions.\n\nIn this role, you will directly contribute to the simulation, design, test, validation, and productization of process-critical assemblies and subsystems related to our Etch process modules.\n\n## What you\u2019ll do\n\n * Acts as a Subject Matter Expert in the field of RF, high voltage designs, and EM modeling for the department.\n * Acts as a resource and mentor for colleagues.\n * Designs, develops, and modifies highly complex RF delivery subsystems and components.\n * Works with multidisciplinary engineering design teams (Mechanical, Electrical, Process) team to spec, design, validate, custom and OEM RF system components.\n * Contributes to research and development efforts for future products and technology by collecting and analyzing data to improve electrical system designs.\n * Perform hands-on test and validation utilizing lab equipment to characterization of the performance of the electrical/electro-mechanical systems.\n * Prepare high-quality reports and technical presentations to clearly communicate design intent, analysis, and results to diverse audiences in design reviews.\n * Leads cross-functional design teams and presents various stages of design reviews including conceptualization, design details, and test and validation data.\n * Proposes, leads, and manages inter-department initiatives and makes contributions towards department business processes.\n\n\n\n## Who we\u2019re looking for\n\n * Expert-level working experience with RF and EM Simulation Suites: Ansys Electronics Desktop, Maxwell, HFSS, Q3D, COMSOL, ,SIwave, ADS\n * Understands tradeoffs between software suits, when to implement, and how to use each.\n * Bachelor\u2019s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 12+ years of industry experience; or Master\u2019s degree with 8+ years\u2019 industry experience; or PhD with 5+ years of industry experience.\n * Excellent communication and presentation skills.\n * Outstanding analysis and trouble-shooting skills; experience with FMEA and structured problem solving and troubleshooting techniques and terminology.\n * Ability to drive functional requirements and execute in a dynamic team environment.\n * Expert-level working experience in electrical circuit design and development with Keysight ADS, SPICE, System modeling (e.g. SIMULink or similar)\n * Experience with MATLAB, MathCAD, LabView, Python (or similar modern scripting language)\n * Experience with schematic and PCB design tools; OrCAD, Cadence Allegro or similar\n * Ability to code, develop additions to data solvers, as well as data post-processing\n\n\n\n## Preferred qualifications\n\n * Semiconductor capital equipment or related industrial equipment industry experience.\n * Appreciates learning and understanding challenges and limitations within other disciplines on system designs.\n * Willingness to travel to international locations.\n * Working knowledge of industry standards: SEMI, NFPA79, NEC, UL, EN, IEC, ETG, etc.\n * Familiar with plasma physics and simulation tools like VizGlow and EMA3D.\n * Experience with RF/uW generator/source, impedance matching network, transmission line, and antennas.\n * Technical working experience: 100 KHz to 100 MHz, Watt to KiloWatt ranges, and high voltage DC delivery.\n * Familiar with high voltage (\u003e10 KV) and high current (\u003e100 Arms) design rules; arcing, tracking, heat, and paracitic.\n\n\n\n## Our commitment\n\n \n\nWe believe it is important for every person to feel valued, included, and empowered to achieve their full potential. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories \u2013 On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. \u2018On-site Flex\u2019 you\u2019ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. \u2018Virtual Flex\u2019 you\u2019ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.\n\nSalary\n\nCA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $141,000.00 - $307,000.00.\n\nThe above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role.
