Job Overview:
AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking a patient-focused Registered Nurse – Rheumatology to deliver specialized care in the Rheumatology Clinic at Mike O’Callaghan Military Medical Center. The Rheum RN plays a key role in managing patients with autoimmune and musculoskeletal disorders, coordinating labs and imaging, supporting medication administration (including biologics), and ensuring continuous communication with providers and patients.
General Duties:
- Practice within scope of clinical privileges and standards of the MTF.
- Perform all duties in alignment with contract terms and DHA policies.
Specific Duties:
- Conduct assessments and record vital signs for rheumatology patients.
- Assist with biologic and immunosuppressive medication administration and monitoring.
- Support providers during joint injections, aspiration procedures, and follow-up evaluations.
- Coordinate lab work, imaging, and specialty referrals.
- Educate patients and caregivers on medication adherence, symptom tracking, and disease progression.
- Manage documentation in EMRs and ensure accurate treatment records.
- Monitor for medication side effects, flares, and patient-reported symptoms.
Qualifications:
Degree: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Education: Graduate of an NLNAC or CCNE-accredited nursing program.
Certification:
Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA or Red Cross
Experience:
- At least 1 year of experience in rheumatology, chronic disease, or infusion therapy
Licensure:
- Must have an active, unrestricted RN license in any U.S. state
Skills and Abilities:
- Skilled in chronic disease education, care planning, and patient communication
- Comfortable with specialty infusions and monitoring patients on high-risk meds
- Ability to recognize and manage adverse reactions and disease flare-ups
- Strong multitasking skills for coordinating labs, medications, and follow-ups
- Familiar with EMR documentation and coordination of specialty care

- Monday–Friday, between 0600–1700 (based on clinic needs)
- No nights, weekends, or holidays
Overage Hours: Up to 60 per year
Physical Requirements:
- Able to sit, stand, walk, and assist with patient mobility during assessments
Immunization Requirement:
- TB screening, updated vaccinations, and physical exam required before start
Security Requirement:
- Must pass federal background check and receive base access clearance
