Position at Palomar Health
Provide key analyst duties in support of the risk/claims functions, ensuring confidentiality and displaying discretion in all matters. Assist the department with related project development in the areas of risk, claims and patient safety. Responsible for administration of district wide claims for Professional & General Liability, Directors & Officers, Employment Liability, Auto, Property and other lines of insurance in support of appointed defense counsel panel and Chief Legal Officer. Serve as a resource to internal/external customers. Support activities include reports, spreadsheets, documentation and preparatory materials for the projects and department, which will require a complete Microsoft and support presentation/education software computer skills experience. Ensure timely generation of project reports, analysis, and summaries to key stakeholders.
Gathers data and interfaces with appropriate brokers on renewal and remarketing efforts for all lines of insurance maintained by hospital working with various departments to ensure accuracy of risk exposures. Maintain claims management information system software for hospital analysis, and review by insurance carriers and independent actuarial and accountants. Prepare annual benchmarking reports summarizing hospital claim experience and identifying trends for future mitigation efforts. Accepts service of Summons & Complaints and subpoenas on behalf of District and coordinate appropriate response. May participate in mediations, court ordered Mandatory Settlement Conferences, depositions, small claims court hearings and trials under the direction of management.
Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws and standards. Carries out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health.
