Location:  Headquarters

Job Summary

The Risk Control Consultant is responsible for delivering strategic risk management services to a diverse and complex portfolio of clients across industries including general industry, manufacturing, retail, real estate, and non-profit sectors. This position requires a strong background in insurance risk engineering, regulatory compliance, and data-driven service planning to reduce clients’ total cost of risk.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide consultative risk management recommendations and support across multiple lines of insurance including Workers’ Compensation, Commercial Property, General Liability, and Auto Liability.
  • Conduct on-site risk assessments - independently and with carrier partners - to identify hazards and develop customized solutions for clients.
  • Analyze data and trends to produce targeted service plans, cause of loss analyses, and stewardship reports.
  • Collaborate with carrier underwriters, risk engineers, and client leadership to negotiate practical and effective loss control recommendations.
  • Develop, manage, and execute loss control service plans, RFP support documents, and mid-year review presentations.
  • Monitor and track the status and closure of carrier recommendations across multi-location and multi-state client operations.
  • Design and implement fleet safety programs, ensuring compliance with state and carrier standards for regulated and non-regulated vehicle operations.
  • Support clients within complex organizational structures, such as private equity-backed entities, REITs, and captive insurance groups.
  • Customarily and regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of job duties.
  • Perform other duties, projects, and research as assigned. 

Requirements

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Extensive background, education, and training in insurance risk engineering, regulatory compliance, and data-driven service planning.
  • Strong presentation skills; demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities. 
  • Capable of handling substantial workloads with a high level of attention to detail and precision in execution without supervision.
  • Ability to travel to client locations and work cross-functionally in a collaborative environment.  

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science or Arts degree; and advanced degree in a related field is preferred
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
  • ARM (Associate in Risk Management) or additional certifications such as OSHA 10/30, Ergonomics, or Property Loss Control are a plus.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a Loss Control or Risk Engineering role, preferably within an insurance brokerage or carrier environment.
  • Experience consulting with senior leaders and developing risk strategies for large, multi-site clients.

SCHEDULE

This is a full-time position, and hours of operation for the office are typically Monday through Friday, 8:30a.m. to 5:30p.m.  Occasional overtime may be required.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

The employee must travel via automobile, airplane and other public transportation on a routine to frequent basis.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Work may include lifting up to 15 pounds.
