To make an impact as an ED RN at UF Health Shands, you will:

• Identify alterations in patient health, assess patient response to treatment and communicate that data to physicians.

• Implement nursing interventions based upon established treatment protocols and anticipate potential outcomes for patients at risk for complications.

• Make the patient, their family and people significant to the patient an integral part of the assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation efforts whenever possible.

• Supervise care provided by licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and unlicensed assistive personnel.

• Work collaboratively to establish a culture of trust, where nurses are committed to patient advocacy and innovative patient care.

• Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

The IP RN will also perform unit-based activities that contribute to a positive work and professional environment, including:

• Conducting lab tests according to regulations.

• Maintaining lab equipment.

• Preparing patient meals.

• Ensuring supplies and medications are available.

• Participating in quality improvement activities.

• Adhering to facility policies.

• Attending meetings and training.

• Coordinating patient discharge and placement.

To achieve excellence in this full-time role, we’re looking for:

• A current RN license in Florida.

• A minimum of three years of experience in a hospital emergency department.

• BSN and professional nursing board certification preferred at time of hire.

• Nurses without a BSN must obtain their certification within two years of their hire date or at the eligibility date for certifications requiring more than two years of experience.

• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS or ENPC.
