Position: RN Behavioral Health - Per Diem - DAYS

Pay: $40 to $45 per hour depending on experience.
Per Diem RN BHU day Shift RN – times of shift (12hr shift) - NO GUARANTEED HOURS
Job Summary:
The Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care to individuals experiencing mental health conditions, emotional disturbances, or behavioral disorders. The RN works as part of a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care to promote mental and emotional well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, including risk assessments and crisis evaluations.
- Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans.
- Administer medications and monitor for side effects or therapeutic responses.
- Observe and document patient behavior, mood, and progress in treatment.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare providers.
- Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
- Provide therapeutic communication, de-escalation techniques, and crisis intervention as needed.
- Ensure a safe and secure environment by maintaining awareness of patient behaviors and applying unit safety protocols.
- Participate in treatment planning meetings and contribute nursing input to interdisciplinary team discussions.
- Support patients with activities of daily living when required.
- Comply with all regulatory standards, including HIPAA and Joint Commission requirements.
Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program. BSN preferred.
Licensure: Current RN license in the state of practice.
Certifications: BLS required. CPI or PMAB certification preferred (or required within 30 days of hire).
Experience:
- 1–2 years of nursing experience required;
- Behavioral Health or Psychiatric Nursing experience strongly preferred.
