Equipment:
Registered nurses (RNs) perform basic duties that include treating patients, educating patients about mental and medical conditions, and providing advice and emotional support to patients and/or family members, running therapeutic groups, psychiatric crisis intervention, and seclusion and restraint of patients. RNs record patients’ medical histories and symptoms, help to perform diagnostic tests and analyze results, operate medical machinery, administer treatment and medications, and help with patient follow-up and rehabilitation. RNs teach patients and their families how to manage their illness or injury, diet and exercise programs, and self-administration of medication and physical therapy. Other related duties.

- need 2 sup refs (charge accepted) at submittal; 1 w/in 12 mo. & 1 w/in 3 years worked
- ***PRIOR TO ACCEPTANCE, THE DYS EXAM THROUGH RELIAS OR UNA IS REQUIRED ALONG WITH ACCEPTANCE.
- MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN 24-48 HRS.
- IT’S PASS OR FAIL AND THEY GET 2 ATTEMPTS (TEST A SHOULD BE ASSIGNED FIRST,
- TEST B SHOULD BE ASSIGNED FOR THE RETAKE).
- A SCREENSHOT SHOWING THE NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS IS REQUIRED.
- **We can accept the Relias Dys exam within the last 12mo if the traveler has previously taken**
- -CSICU - Cardiovascular Surgical ICU float to MSNICU (Neuro experience preferred)
- -# beds: 20
- -Certs: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- -Ratios: 1:1-2
- -EMR: Cerner
- -Charge Nurse: Yes, generally does not take patients, but will do break relief.
- -Nurse Aides: Yes as census and staffing dictates
- -Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- -Holidays: Rotate in with core staff
- -Scrub Color: Navy - under shirts must be navy, white, or black. Scrub jackets are optional, must be navy.
- -Tele: Yes, must be able to read and interpret EKG strips.
- -Shifts: 12 hr shifts. Shift starts 645. Report is at the bedside. OT and extra shifts are available. Self-scheduling is used, but is not finalized until Manager balances it. Schedules are out 4 weeks. Travelers can access their schedules from home and make themselves "available" for extra shifts and make trades with other staff. Block scheduling is generally not available.
- -Floating All other Sacramento facilities. Mid-shift float to another facility is rare, but can happen.
- -Floor specific orientation: 1 - 2 days on the floor with preceptor.
- -Common diagnosis / Types of patients Pre and fresh postop CABG (goal is extubation in 6hrs), LVADs, Empallas, IABP, TAVRs, CRRT (Next Stage), all critical drips, Swan monitoring. There are many pathway protocols in use.
- -Additional Notes: Travelers will not take LVADs. Core staff will validate skill for CABG recovery, IABP, and CRRT. IABP is not 1:1.
