Job Objective:

Supervises and coordinates the daily operations of the Urgent Care Clinics for assigned shifts, including daily staffing assignments and coordination of department resources. Responsible for coordinating and supervising nursing staff and Medical Assistants. Monitors the performance of competency, gives verbal and written input for annual performance evaluations, as well as assisting the manager regarding the compliance of policies and procedures. Functions as a liaison for medical staff and other customers for the manager when not present. Contributes to the development of policies and procedures, performance improvement plans. Responsible for general oversight of staff orientation and development; optimal provision of quality patient care.

Education:
Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master’s degree in Nursing

Licensure/Certification:
Required: California Registered Nurse (RN) licensure and Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association (AHA)

Experience:
Required: Two (2) years of clinical RN experience

Reports To: Clinical Manager, Clinical Director, Chief Administrative Officer
Supervises: Clinical staff
Ages of Patients: Neonate/Infant, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric
Blood Borne Pathogens: High Potential

Ability to communicate and teach effectively by using dynamic approaches, Ability to lead by example, demonstrating integrity, transparency, and accountability in decision-making and actions, Competent in the Scope and Standards of Care for Nursing Professional Development, Contributes to Maintaining a Healthy Work Environment, Knowledge of evidence-based nursing practice, Knowledge of the special needs of the patient population served, Possesses strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills, Strong knowledge and clinical skills in critical care nursing, Strong knowledge of healthcare and regulatory standards in order to meet training needs, Written and verbal communication skills

Essential Responsibilities

1. Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
2. Monitors department specific standards of care/practice.
3. Assists with collection of data for Nursing P.I. projects.
4. Assists in monitoring unit readiness in Joint Commission, California and Federal standards.
5. Ensures daily assessment of unit equipment to maintain quality controls (i.e. POCT’s, Med Refrigerators, where applicable.
6. Provides coaching for staff as necessary.
7. Rounds with staff members to evaluate care and services given to patients.
8. Facilitates availability of adequate material resources and supplies.
9. Assists control of expenditures within the department.
10. Assesses shift staffing needs consistent with patient mix, census and acuity levels.
11. Sets priorities appropriate to daily patient/physician dynamics.
12. Assures patient acuity classification is completed.
13. Maintains communication and resolves issues regarding shift activities.
14. Coaches and educates staff Nurses regarding clinical questions.
15. Retains clinical skills for execution of patient care as necessary.
16. Collaborates with staff regarding physician notification.
17. Assists with performance evaluations in a timely manner.
18. Promotes efficient patient care throughput unity in the Urgent Care Clinics.
19. Serves as clinical and administrative resource to staff.
20. Balances employee resources effectively to meet clinical needs and monitors daily staffing to meet budget/financial goals by flexing staff as necessary.
21. Performs other duties as assigned.
