Circulating Nurse Responsibilities & Duties
Prepare the operating room with necessary equipment and supplies
Monitor the surgical team to maintain a sterile environment
Assist in positioning the patient safely before the surgery
Verify patient information and surgical site before the procedure begins
Document all aspects of the surgical procedure in the patient’s chart
Coordinate with anesthesia providers to ensure patient safety
Manage the flow of the operating room and anticipate the surgical team’s needs
Handle specimens taken during surgery and ensure proper labeling and documentation
Circulating Nurse Qualifications & Skills
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Experience in operating room or surgical nursing preferred
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems
Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
Commitment to continuing education and professional development
Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Strong understanding of sterile techniques and surgical procedures
Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience
Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds
