RN Hospice On-Call

James River Hospice is hiring a dedicated Hospice On-Call RN to support hospice and home health patients in the Richmond, VA area. This after-hours role involves providing symptom management, patient assessments, and coordinating with the care team to ensure timely, high-quality support in the home setting.

Schedule: 7 on / 7 off. Weekdays 5 pm – 8 am; Saturday & Sunday 8 am – 8 pm.

A brief overview of Responsibilities:  

• Responds to on-call needs by assessing patients, managing symptoms, and helping during urgent situations. Completes initial and follow-up assessments to determine patient and family needs and adjusts care plans to focus on comfort and quality of life. Works closely with physicians and the care team and may oversee LPNs and hospice aides. Provides hands-on care focused on pain and symptom relief while offering support to patients and families, and helps with other duties as needed to support patient care.

Qualifications: 

• Must be a Registered Nurse with a current license to practice nursing in the Commonwealth of Virginia


• At least one year of hospice experience is required.


• Graduate of an accredited nursing school.


• Must have a valid driver's license and a reliable car available for use during work hours.
