Pay: $60 to $65 per hour
Job description:
- -Unit: ICU
- - # beds: They are licensed for 44 beds but they are currently using 36
- - Certs: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required, CCRN preferred
- - Ratios: 1:2 or 1:1
- - EMR: Cerner Power chart
- - Charge Nurse: yes - they do not take a patient assignment
- - Nurse Aides: No nurse aides but they do have a unit tech that does secretary duties, equipment duties, etc.
- - Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, Fri, Sat, Sun (for both days and nights)
- - Holidays: Yes- work them in with perm staff rotation - that is when they are needed most so travelers should expect to work holidays
- - Scrub Color: Navy Blue
- - Tele/Monitor Techs: 44 Monitors hardwired - GE - they do have a monitor tech but no centralized monitoring
- - Drips: Vasopressors, Nitro, Heparin, etc.
- - Vents: Yes
- - Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Yes - they are in house 24/7 Sound Physician group
- - IV Team: No
- - RT 24/7: Yes
- - Pharmacy 24/7: Yes
- - Shifts: 0645-1915/1845-0715 - 12 hr shifts, no self scheduling
- - Floating: Yes- to Tele & ER for ICU Holds
- - Floor specific orientation: 1 day of orientation on ICU and one shifts on the Tele/stepdown unit
- - Common diagnosis / Types of patients: (PACU patients will go directly to ICU) Cardiac, PCI, Open Heart, Sepsis, ETOH, Stroke, CABG, stents, balloon pumps, cath lab ( some- most of them will recover on the DOU unit), craniotomies, travlers are not assigned fresh open heart or crani's - they do not have to have experience in that area, general medical surgical ICU nurses are needed, 3 years minimum experience, unless coming from a big institution with 2+ years experience, prior travel experience preferred
- - Additional Notes: Big on patient satisfaction - travel nurses must be skilled, competent, but also compassionate about their patient care.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of care in the ICU. The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her assigned patients; He/She communicates with the physician about changes in the patient's clinical condition including hemodynamic monitoring, results of diagnostic studies, and abnormal results and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
Qualifications:
Education and Work Experience
- Current and valid state RN License.
- Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
- Completion of Critical Care Course preferred.
- Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
- Minimum of one year as a staff RN in acute care hospital, critical care preferred.
- Critical Care RN (CCRN) Certification preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
