RN Labor and Delivery (Travel)

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional care to expectant mothers during labor and delivery, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for both the mother and the newborn. This role requires strong clinical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.

Duties

• Monitor and assess the health status of mothers and infants during labor and delivery.
• Administer medications and injections as prescribed, ensuring patient safety.
• Provide education and support to families regarding infant care, family planning, and postpartum recovery.
• Assist with emergency procedures as necessary, demonstrating acute care skills.
• Conduct assessments related to anatomy knowledge for both mother and infant.
• Manage tube feeding for infants when required.
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare staff to develop individualized care plans.
• Utilize Epic or similar electronic health record systems for documentation and patient management.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment in the labor and delivery unit.

Requirements

• Valid nursing license in the state of practice.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in labor and delivery nursing preferred; outpatient or emergency room experience is a plus.
• Proficient in administering injections and managing acute care situations.
• Strong knowledge of infant care practices.
• Familiarity with tube feeding protocols is desirable.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Commitment to providing compassionate care to patients during critical moments.

Schedule Details

• Shifts: Variable
• Weekends: Every other
• Weekend Coverage: Evenly dispersed among all RNs
• On-Call: Yes – max once per pay period
• Float: Yes – to assist with phone calls, IV starts, skill support in other units (no patient assignments)
• Block Scheduling: Not required
• Hours per Week: 36–48 hours approved

• Neonatal care

Certifications

• Required: BLS, NRP
• Preferred: CLC, STABLE
