CLEVELAND AREA HOSPITAL is an independent, self-managed Critical Access Hospital half an hour west of Tulsa, Oklahoma. As the only hospital in Pawnee County, we are constantly striving to provide the highest level of care by continuously growing and updating our services and equipment. Our facilities include a level IV Trauma Center/ ER, Skilled Nursing/Swing Bed program, Respiratory Therapy, C.T., 3D Mammography, a fully equipped Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, 24/7 Lab, and a Primary Care Clinic. POSITION SUMMARY: …………. Provides education and evaluation to all staff within the hospital and outside of the hospital in other buildings utilizing evidence-based research. Collaborates with all medical practitioners and nursing staff to incorporate nursing processes into the plan of care of patients. Complies with the Oklahoma State Department of Health and Centers for Medicaid and Medicare guidelines.

PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Adhere to all policies of the organization, including (but not limited to) job description, certification/licensure requirements, mission statement, HIPAA, confidentiality standards and patient’s rights.  
  2. Actively engage and stay up to date with organization’s communications and directives. 
  3. Provides educational leadership to patient care providers within the established healthcare setting.
  4. Assists caregivers with educational needs, problem resolution, and health management across the continuum of care.
  5. Collaborates with medical providers, patient care staff, and management in the planning, implementation, and delivery of educational curricula.
  6. Initiates skills development programs within the parameters of established care models; implements educational strategies to ensure compliance with standards and parameters.
  7. Serves as a resource to develop patient care plans, incorporating evidence-based research and national standards to ensure quality patient care.
  8. Serves as a resource to ensure quality patient care.
  9. Educates patient care staff in the use of new equipment, supplies, and instruments coordinating in-service training and workshops for appropriate staff.
  10. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies by promoting continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental promoting continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  11. Education Plan every year
  12. Education Policy and Procedure
  13. State compliance education to include but not limited to: Fire Drills, Code Blue Drills, Disaster Drills, etc. This is to include planning, oversite, and documentation.
  14. BLS, ACLS, and PALS instruction
  15. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATIONAL/SKILLS REQUIRED:

Registered Nurse: BSN preferred with experience related to duties and responsibilities specified.

BLS, ACLS, PALS Instructor

Good communication skills both verbal and written

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment.

Thorough knowledge and understanding of protocol, procedures, and standards within the area of nursing expertise.

Ability to provide operational guidance and leadership to staff.

Knowledge of accreditation and certification requirements

Ability to assess educational needs and design and develop responsible curricula

Working knowledge of the use of established care models in the development of education programs.

Leadership Skills

Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate staff regarding patient care programs and education.

Excellent teamwork

Positive attitude for team building

Organizational Skills

Able to work independently

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse. Minimum 1 years’ experience as a Charge Nurse, House Supervisor, or Educator.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION:

This position could have access to patient confidential records and must comply with HIPAA regulations as well as Compliance Policies and State and Federal rules and regulations.

WORKING CONDITIONS – PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The following physical/mental demands are required for the position. 

This position requires the following physical demands

Occasional = 33% Frequent = 66% Continuous = 100%

Frequent: must be able to be on their feet walking, standing, transporting and/or positioning patients.

Occasional: lift and transfer a minimum of 50 pounds and apply a minimum of 50 pounds of push/pull force while using good body mechanics. 

Frequent: use hands to finger, handle or feel. 

Frequent: reach with hands and arms. 

Frequent: bending and stretching while using good body mechanics.

May be exposed to communicable diseases.
