RN Office-Based Lab (OBL) / Outpatient Procedures

Description

The Interventional RN plays a critical role in supporting vascular, interventional, and pain procedures by providing expert clinical care and patient education throughout the peri-procedural process. This position is responsible for preparing patients, administering IV sedation and medications, monitoring vital signs, and assisting physicians during procedures. The RN ensures proper post-procedure recovery, discharge planning, and follow-up coordination while maintaining a sterile field and adhering to infection control protocols. The role requires compliance with all regulatory guidelines, accurate EMR documentation, collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, and active participation in quality improvement initiatives, equipment maintenance, and staff development activities. 

• Prepare patients for vascular, interventional, and pain procedures, including assessment, education, and obtaining informed consent.
• Monitor patient vital signs and respond to any changes in condition during procedures.
• Administer IV sedation, medications, and fluids as ordered by the physician, ensuring proper dosage and documentation.
• Assist the physician during procedures by anticipating needs, handling sterile instruments, and providing direct patient care.
• Ensure proper post-procedure care, including monitoring recovery, providing discharge instructions, and coordinating follow-up care.
• Maintain a sterile field and follow infection control protocols in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and accreditation guidelines, including HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to policy updates for patient safety and best practices.
• Work closely with physicians, technologists, and administrative staff to ensure a smooth workflow.
• Provide patient and family education regarding procedures, post-care instructions, and ongoing treatment plans.
• Document patient interactions, treatments, and progress accurately in electronic medical records (EMR).
• Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment.
• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuing education programs.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (ADN/BSN) from an accredited program.
• Current RN license in the state of [Insert State].
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Experience in interventional radiology, cardiac cath lab, vascular surgery, or outpatient surgical settings.
• RN with at least 3 years of OBL, ASC, or hospital surgery experience.
• Strong leadership and collaborative skills.
