RN Preop /PACU - PRN

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:  

Assists in provision of nursing care to patients in an ambulatory surgical setting.  Assumes total responsibility for patient care in accordance with physician’s orders and center’s policies.  Monitors and controls use of and charging for supplies utilized in the center.  Prepared to work in a busy preop area with up to 35 patients per day for cataract surgery. 

ABILITIES/SKILLS:

• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.


• Additional languages preferred,


• Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients in the center.


• Must demonstrate the knowledge of the principal of growth and development of the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients requirements relative to his/her age specific needs and provide the care needed as described in the centers policies and procedures.


• Demonstrates the knowledge and skill and the nursing process.


• Demonstrates the ability to utilize and recognize channels of communication.


• Demonstrate the ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with patients, coworkers, and other health


• Must be IV certified and proficient in inserting IV's.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing


• Current Registered Nurse License


• Current American Heart Assn. BLS and ACLS certifications 


• Previous post op surgery experience required
