RN Unit Manager Overview

As our RN Unit Manager, you'll provide both clinical and operational leadership for your assigned nursing unit. You'll oversee resident care, support and develop your nursing team, collaborate with interdisciplinary departments, and help ensure every resident receives compassionate, high-quality care in a safe and welcoming environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced RN who is passionate about leadership, mentorship, and making a lasting difference.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of individualized nursing care plans.
  • Coordinate resident care alongside physicians, therapists, social services, and the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Mentor, coach, and support nursing staff while fostering a positive and collaborative workplace culture.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of your nursing unit to ensure quality care and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for residents, families, visitors, and staff.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, staff development, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Monitor clinical documentation, resident outcomes, and quality initiatives.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and continuing education opportunities.
  • Encourage innovation, recognize outstanding staff performance, and continuously look for ways to improve resident care and employee engagement.

What We're Looking For

  • Current Vermont RN license (or eligibility through reciprocity).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience.
  • At least one (1) year of nursing leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Long-term care or geriatric nursing experience preferred.
  • Dementia care experience is a plus.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills.
  • A collaborative leader who builds trust, mentors others, and creates an environment where employees can thrive.
  • Passion for delivering exceptional, resident-centered care.

RN Unit Manager Responsibilities

As an RN Unit Manager, you'll play a vital leadership role in creating a positive, resident-centered environment while supporting your nursing team and partnering with interdisciplinary departments to deliver exceptional care.

In this role, you will:

Qualifications






RN Unit Manager Qualifications

We're looking for a compassionate nurse leader who enjoys mentoring others and is committed to delivering exceptional resident care.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Current Vermont Registered Nurse (RN) license (or eligibility for licensure through reciprocity).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience.
  • At least one (1) year of nursing leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience or a genuine passion for caring for older adults; dementia care experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to effectively supervise staff, coordinate resident care, and build collaborative relationships with residents, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • A leadership style that inspires trust, encourages professional growth, recognizes employee contributions, and promotes a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
