Job Summary

Provide professional, hands‑on nursing care to students in school clinics and to medically complex students assigned to campuses. Deliver direct care, develop/implement portions of individual healthcare plans (IHPs) when delegated, coordinate care with campus staff and Health Services administration, and ensure continuity of care across shifts and substitute coverage.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our school clinic team, specializing in providing comprehensive healthcare support for medically complex students. This vital role involves delivering high-quality patient care within a dynamic school environment, ensuring the safety and well-being of students with diverse medical needs. Responsibilities

• Triage and treat acute student health issues; administer medications and treatments per physician orders and IHPs.


• Perform specialized procedures for medically complex students (e.g., tracheostomy care, tube feedings, ventilator monitoring) when trained and assigned.


• Document all encounters in district-required format, update student healthcare plans, and communicate with parents/guardians and clinic staff.


• Provide health education, emergency response, and campus-wide health screenings as assigned.


• Maintain inventory of clinic supplies and safe medication storage.


• Report incidents, suspected abuse, or health trends to Health Services administrators.

Typical schedule/setting:

• Campus-based during school hours; shift lengths tied to campus hours and bus schedules; may include full school day, split shifts, or shorter coverage; must be available for short-notice fill-ins and occasional after-hours emergency consultation.

Supervision/reporting:

• Works under school nurse leadership and district health policies.


• Documentation & compliance: Strict adherence to FERPA/HIPAA; TBON nursing standards; submission of weekly timesheets (contractors); sign-in/out at campus front office; maintain CPR, TBST, continuing education records.

Requirements:

• Active, unrestricted Texas RN license (TBON).


• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN preferred).


• Minimum 1–2 years clinical nursing experience; pediatric or school health experience preferred.


• Current BLS/CPR certification.


• Ability to pass Texas fingerprint criminal background check and complete TEA pre‑service affidavit (SB571).


• Strong documentation skills and basic computer/EHR proficiency.


• Ability to perform delegated procedures for medically complex students (per training).


• Reliable transportation and ability to travel between CFISD campuses as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with tracheostomy, ventilator, G-tube, diabetes management, or other complex care.


• School nursing certification (if available) or public health experience.


• Two or more years working with pediatric populations.

• Flexible schedule
