Schedule:
Flexible shifts: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 11:00 AM - 11:30 PM
Open to 11.5 hours for 3 days a week or 7.5 hours for 5 days a week
Pay:

$85.00 per hour
Duties:

Under the direction and supervision of the Wound and Ostomy Manager, the wound, ostomy, and continence nurse will provide safe, competent, quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients.

Responsibilities:

Conduct health assessments focused on wound, ostomy, and continence related care. Perform focused physical assessments, develop plans of care based on diagnosis and individual client needs, and recommend appropriate treatments.
Assist with the development, revision, and evaluation of standards of care.
Assess and document patient response to wound care, ostomy, continence, fistula, and complex wounds treatment. Evaluate the quality and delivery of care provided by clinical staff.
Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team and make referrals to other disciplines as necessary.
Educate and counsel individuals and families to assume responsibility for the prevention of complications related to ostomies, wounds, or continence problems.
Routinely provide comprehensive assessments for patients at risk of developing pressure injuries and initiate preventative measures.
Participate in Unit/Department Quality Improvement and Hospital Wide Q.I activities.
Provide culturally competent patient, family, and staff education consistent with cultural, ethnic, religious, and other belief systems.
Maintain security and confidentiality of data and information in accordance with patient rights policies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills:

Required Skills & Experience:

Three to five (3-5) years of experience in healthcare.
Ability to fully utilize BHMC's electronic record systems, equipment, and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.
Good interpersonal skills.
Education:

BSN Required
Required Certifications & Licensure:

Active NYS Registered Nurse license.
Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON) issued by the WOCNCB; or Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) issued by the WOCNCB; or Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) issued by the American Board of Wound Management (ABWM); or Wound Care Certified Certification (WCC) issued by the National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy (NAWCO).
Additional Information:

On-call shifts may be required as part of this position.
