Trauma ProgramJob Objective:
Effectively coordinates all aspects of the trauma performance improvement and patient safety processes including systems and peer review processes. The RN Trauma Performance Improvement (P.I.) Coordinator will be responsible for the maintenance of processes related to multidisciplinary trauma peer review and internal trauma systems issues including case reviews, identification of issues (provider and system), tracking and trending of complications/audit filters/issues, and maintenance of appropriate files and data systems. Demonstrates initiative, resourcefulness and problem solving skills. Demonstrates detailed knowledge of trauma hospital Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) requirements, the trauma standard of care across the continuum and the operations of the hospital trauma systemJob Description:
Education:
Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Preferred: Master of Science in Nursing or related field
Licensure/Certification:
Required: California Registered Nurse (RN); American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS, BLS, PALS; Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification from AHA and American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
One of the following upon hire: Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN)
One of the following within one (1) year of hire: Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN), Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) or Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN)
TNCC or ATCN instructor certification within one (1) year of hire
Trauma Outcomes and Performance Improvement course within three (3) months of hire
Experience:
Required: Five (5) years of clinical trauma nursing experience with all age groups e.g., emergency department or surgical-trauma intensive care unit with one (1) year of Trauma Performance Improvement experience
Preferred: Experience in program development, teaching and public speaking, performance improvement initiatives, educational programming and systems development
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
Ability to establish-maintain positive interpersonal relationships with all levels of the organization, Ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple tasks-projects; ability to influence and negotiate, Ability to take initiative, be innovative and work effectively in a variety of settings, Proficient Microsoft Office programs, Requires strong customer service, problem solving, project management and teamwork skills, Strong interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills, Written and verbal communication skillsEssential Responsibilities
