Come and join us in building the infrastructure our planet needs to achieve a sustainable future.

Acciona offers a competitive salary, relocation assistance where relocation is required and approved, 401(k) retirement plan, medical, dental, vision, life, short and long-term disability benefits, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, and more.

The SR400 Express Lanes Project is a transformative $4.6 billion infrastructure initiative led by SR400 Constructors, a 50/50 joint venture between Flatiron Dragados and ACCIONA. Commissioned by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and Georgia State Road Tollway Authority (SRTA), the project will add two 16-mile express lanes from Sandy Springs MARTA Station (Exit 5) to McFarland (Exit 12), enhancing mobility along one of Georgia’s busiest corridors. With a peak workforce of over 500, the project also includes dedicated bus rapid transit stations and key bridge refurbishments. Construction is set to begin in late 2025, with substantial completion anticipated in 2031.

We are seeking a Roadway Design Engineer to join our team working on the SR400 Express Lanes project, one of our most significant large-scale infrastructure projects.

Job Description

  • Execute the design of roadway geometry, alignment, cross-sections, and drainage systems for the SR400 Express Lanes project.

  • Develop and review plans, specifications, and estimates for roadway design, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and standards.

  • Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, environmental specialists, and other engineers to ensure integrated, efficient, and constructible designs.

  • Perform engineering analyses and simulations related to traffic flow, horizontal/vertical geometry, and road safety.

  • Coordinate with local agencies, stakeholders, and utility companies to address any design constraints or project issues.

  • Review and manage the preparation of construction documents, including plan sets, design reports, and other technical documentation.

  • Ensure that designs meet schedule, budget, and quality targets.

  • Provide technical support and mentoring to junior engineers and designers, offering guidance on best practices and design processes.

  • Ensure that all designs adhere to environmental regulations and promote sustainability in roadway construction.

  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to the development of project timelines, budgets, and scopes of work.

  • Stay current with new developments in roadway design standards, materials, and technology.

Required Skills and Competencies

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in roadway design, with a focus on large infrastructure projects (experience with express lanes or highway systems is highly preferred).

  • Proficiency in roadway design software, such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or similar tools.

  • Strong knowledge of AASHTO and other relevant design standards, including federal, state, and local requirements.

  • Experience in coordinating and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including traffic engineers, environmental specialists, and construction personnel.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to solve complex design challenges.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a focus on quality and safety in design.
