Roadway Maintenance Superintendent

GovFirst is seeking to hire multiple Roadway Maintenance Superintendents to support roadway maintenance activities across various locations in Virginia, including Bristol, Culpeper, Fredericksburg, Hampton Roads, Lynchburg, Northern Virginia, Richmond, Salem, and Staunton within the Transportation Operations Division. These superintendents will oversee maintenance operations and ensure effective traffic control and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise all roadway maintenance activities and traffic control operations.
  

• Support other maintenance and operations activities by providing traffic control when needed.
  

• Schedule work, establish priorities, and maintain accurate maintenance records.
  

• Read and interpret standard Road and Bridge plans for maintenance tasks.
  

• Identify maintenance and replacement needs while working within budget constraints.
  

• Ensure fair application of HR policies and procedures.
  

• Function as a compliance inspector on roadway asset repair, installation, specification adherence, and work zone traffic control.
  

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, with experience in roadway maintenance.
  

• CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) required.
  

• At least five (5) years of experience and knowledge in roadway maintenance operations.
  

• Ability to use tools, materials, and equipment relevant to roadway maintenance tasks.
  

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  

• Ability to work effectively with the public and team members.
