Lacas Coffee Company (“Lacas”), a growing midsized regional coffee roaster based in Pennsauken New Jersey is looking to hire a Production Roaster. The Production Roaster is charged with daily production roasting on any of Lacas’ three coffee roasting machines. This position reports to the Roast Master at Lacas. A. Primary Responsibilities

· Daily production roasting on Jabez Burns R23 roaster; backup roasting on 30 kilo Joper roaster

· Set up and monitor each roast, record roast data and make adjustments as necessary to ensure roast standards

· Transfer and grind roasted coffee 

· Maintain quality awareness through regular product analysis and cupping of coffees

· Perform daily/weekly/monthly roaster maintenance and roasting area cleaning

· Help maintain green coffee inventory records and track usage

· Work in compliance with HACCP, OSHA, FSMA regulations and all present and future Lacas GMP’s, SOP’s, and SSOP’s

· Cooperate with all management/warehouse functions to ensure overall product excellence, operational efficiency and team member / company success

· Embrace a culture of continuous improvement

B. Background and Skills Required

· High School Diploma / GED

· Must have interest in the coffee industry and a desire to expand knowledge base

· Reliability is essential. Individual must demonstrate flexibility to meet production and roasting demands, which can include occasional weekends and scheduled early morning or evening shifts

· Computer Literate

· Ability to work efficiently and intelligently with minimal supervision

· Ability to multi-task in a production environment

· Clear written and verbal communication skills; basic math skills

· Problem solver with the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

· Accountable and performance-oriented

· Mature individual with consistently positive attitude

C. Areas of Measurement

· On-time production

· Accuracy of production entry

· Production metrics

D. Working Conditions 

· Must be able to lift overhead, bend, twist, climb, and work in confined areas.

· Must be able to be on your feet all day for entire 8-10 hour shift

· Ability to lift 75 pounds, move 150 pounds and to push/pull up to 1,000 pounds using pallet jack

· Must be able to tolerate warmer temperatures in non-air conditioned space with heat producing equipment
