Job Description - Rock Kids Director/Pastor

Description

Position Summary:

The Rock Kids Pastor/Director provides leadership, vision, and spiritual oversight for the Rock Kids ministry (birth through 5th grade). This role is responsible for creating a Christ-centered, safe, engaging, and age-appropriate environment where children can grow in their faith and build lasting connections. The Pastor/Director partners with parents, volunteers, and church leadership to disciple children, develop leaders, and align the ministry with the broader mission of Rock Church.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Vision & Oversight

  • Lead the Rock Kids ministry in alignment with the overall vision and values of Rock Church.
  • Cast vision and provide strategic direction for children’s ministry programming, curriculum, and volunteer engagement.
  • Recruit, develop, and shepherd staff and volunteer leaders.
  • Create a dynamic, age-appropriate environment for children that fosters spiritual growth, safety, and community.

Event Leadership

  • Lead planning and execution of Rock Kids programming for major events including Easter, Christmas, Camps, and Kingdom Life weekends.
  • Collaborate with other ministries to coordinate family-focused events and church-wide initiatives.
  • Lead the planning and execution of the Rock Kids experience, encompassing all program aspects of, from birth through the 5th grade, and incorporate innovative elements to enhance the campus-level and global experiences in all we do. 

Family Engagement

  • Develop and manage a regular parent/family newsletter to keep families informed, encouraged, and equipped.
  • Partner with parents in the discipleship of their children by providing resources, communication, and support.

Special Needs Ministry

  • Cast vision and strategy for inclusive ministry for families with children with special needs.  
  • Provide oversight for inclusive ministry environments for children with special needs.
  • Equip volunteers and staff to serve children with varying abilities with care and excellence. 

     Administration & Budget

  • Manage the Rock Kids ministry budget, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources.
  • Maintain accurate records of ministry activity: attendance, curriculum, trainings, celebrations, scheduling, follow up, and groups. 
  • Ensure compliance with Rock Church safety and security policies, including background checks and check-in procedures.

Requirements

Job-related Qualifications:

Education, Training, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in ministry, education, or related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in children’s ministry leadership (church staff or similar environment).
  • Experience leading teams and managing volunteers.
  • Prior event planning and budget management experience strongly preferred.

Job Skills, Knowledge, Abilities

  • Spiritually mature with a strong biblical foundation.
  • Passion for discipling children and equipping families.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Effective communicator with adults and children.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage priorities.
  • Culturally aware and sensitive to the diverse needs of families.
  • Comfortable with basic tech tools, presentation, and Rock Church platforms (PCO, etc.). 

Organizational and Spiritual Requirements:

  • Member of the Rock Church (or willing to transfer membership to the Rock Church).
  • Godly character demonstrated at all times by treating people with dignity, respect, compassion, and integrity.

  • Team-focus
  • ALL IN for all God is doing in and through Rock Church displayed by willing engagement in ministry initiatives and events.
  • Signed acknowledgment of the Rock’s Statement of Faith.
  • Utilize the principles of Matthew 18 and Ephesians 4:15 to resolve differences of opinion with others. Strive for reconciliation and restoration in all matters, and in all relationships by living this out at all times (self, teams, and families).
  • Tithe 10% to the Rock Church.
  • Successful completion of a thorough pre-employment references and background checks, which include: social security verification, Local, State, & Federal criminal conviction records search, national security database, and sex offender registry.
  • Ability to interpret and adhere to the Rock’s policies, procedures, and employee handbook.
  • Attendance at all mandatory campus and global initiatives.  This includes serving at Good Friday, Easter, and Christmas services as well as the appreciation event.
  • Ability to interpret and adhere to the Rock’s policies, procedures, and employee handbook.
  • Be self-motivated and goal-oriented, use good judgment, and be flexible and innovative.

Physical Requirements:

This position also may require long periods of sitting, standing, walking, and hand/eye coordination for keyboard data entry and viewing data on a computer monitor.
