Job Description - Rolling Mill Operator - 100088

Manufacturing Sciences Corporation (MSC) is a specialty metal manufacturer that processes and manufactures technology metals in a safe, controlled, and environmentally responsible facility. With 40 years of experience working with depleted uranium, MSC is the only commercial organization globally capable of casting, rolling, and machining depleted-uranium products.

Rolling Mill Operator

The Rolling Mill Operator sets up and operates rolling mills and related equipment to produce metal products to close tolerances. This role performs in-process inspections using precision measurement tools, completes routine maintenance, and works closely with teammates to support safe, high-quality production.

MSC is a small employer with fewer than 75 employees. Being small helps us stay nimble, communicate effectively, and recognize that every team member plays a critical role in our success. We listen to our employees, use their ideas to improve performance, encourage learning, and support one another. If you want to contribute and make an impact, we welcome your interest in our Rolling Mill Operator opportunity.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is safety-minded, comfortable working with close tolerances, and able to use precision measurement tools and basic shop math to meet quality requirements.

Essential Functions

Set up and operate rolling mills and metal-forming equipment to produce material to specification and close tolerances. Use precision measurement tools to perform in-process inspections, verify incoming material against requirements, and document results as needed. Collaborate with teammates and, when applicable, customers to support continuous improvement and process development.

  • Set up and operate the rolling mill, including roll changes.

  • Operate shears and salt-bath equipment.

  • Change rolls and components in the mill housing as needed.

  • Work to close tolerances and verify dimensions throughout the process.

  • Use shop math and measurement tools (gauges, meters, and samples) to monitor and control the process.

  • Complete setups, routine maintenance, and other equipment-related tasks.

  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.

  • Work under routine/direct supervision.

Competencies

  • Work effectively under routine/direct supervision.

  • Use hand tools safely and correctly.

  • Apply basic shop math to support setups and inspections.

  • Results-driven with attention to detail.

Minimum Required Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Basic shop math skills.

  • Ability to use handheld measurement instruments and tools.

  • Ability to read and follow RWP and JHA work requirements.

Preferred Education & Experience

  • RAD certified (preferred).

  • Forklift certified (preferred).

  • Two (2) years of related manufacturing or machine-operation experience.

Benefits & Company Culture

Many companies offer benefits, but have you worked at a place where employees are happy to come to work every day and often talk about their satisfaction with their work? The tenure of many MSC employees reflects their commitment and satisfaction. To support our team, MSC offers a bonus program and a 401(k) plan to help you plan for retirement. Paid time off provides flexibility, and some positions offer a four-day workweek. MSC also provides two shared-cost health plan options, plus dental and vision coverage. The company provides group term life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment coverage, short-term disability, and long-term disability to help protect your income when needed. Employees may elect additional coverage, including supplemental life insurance, supplemental AD&D insurance, critical care insurance, and group accident insurance.

If all these things appeal to you and you meet the basic requirements, please take a few minutes to apply.   Please note that MSC is a Drug-Free Workplace.  Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a drug screen and breathalyzer test. Random testing will continue throughout employment.

MSC is an EEO/AA/Disability/Vet Employer.
