Route Representative: Van Delivery

Description

Purpose

To deliver coffee and other products to metro area accounts. Serve as occasional back-up for shipping and other production needs.

Job Responsibilities

Essential Duties (95%)

Van Delivery and Customer Service (80%, of which 75% is for DSD accounts)

• Deliver coffee and other items per invoice on delivery schedule and following prescribed routes approximately 5 days a week. This position will fill in & perform additional deliveries by van as needed.
• Provide outstanding customer service to all metro area accounts as scheduled—this position is the primary face of Peace Coffee for most of these accounts.
• Ensure receipt of goods by consignees on a delivery route and obtain signatures from consignees as proof of receipt of goods.
• Stock shelves and bulk bins, rotating stock and maintaining a clean, presentable sale area for Peace Coffee in stores. Responsible for cleaning and repairing bins & grinders as necessary.
• Develop & communicate strong knowledge of Peace Coffee products.
• Take active responsibility for safety, observing traffic laws, monitoring weather and road conditions.
• Communicate observations on store conditions and customer comments to relevant members of the Peace Coffee team.
• Attend required meetings and utilize available communication venues.
• Observe health and safety regulations.
• Assist in continually improving workflow and efficiencies in the production area and delivery program, including recommending equipment and facilities upgrades.

Pack Orders (15%)

• Accurately pack orders per invoice, in line with Peace Coffee’s procedures for freshness and labeling.

Cleaning and Shipping Assistance (5%)

• Assist with grinding coffee as needed.
• Assist with picking and packing orders as needed. Includes packing and shipping orders via UPS or USPS Priority Mail as needed.
• Assist with regular maintenance and everyday tasks around Peace Coffee.

Non-Essential Duties (5%)

• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Passion for Peace Coffee’s mission and producing quality coffee.
• Ability to work both alone and as part of a team.
• DSD (Direct Store Delivery) experience is strongly preferred.
• Basic math and computer skills, experience with Excel preferred.
• Ability to solve problems and attention to detail required.
• Ability to communicate effectively and in a timely manner.
• Ability to understand and obey all applicable traffic laws at all times when driving for Peace Coffee.
• High school diploma, or equivalent, required.
• Valid Minnesota Driver’s License and clean driving record.

Physical Requirements

• Work environment: This job is performed in a warehouse where conditions can be hot, dusty and there is a continuous industrial noise. Ability to work in this environment daily is required.
• This job requires standing on concrete, bending, walking and lifting on a continuous basis throughout the day. 
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to climb ladders, lift and carry bins up to 45 lbs. above 5ft.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
• Ability to use cleaning products of medium toxicity.
• Ability to operate a large vehicle in all weather conditions.

Compensation

Hourly Rate: $20.25/hour

Benefits: Health/Dental/Short-Term Disability Insurances - first day of the month following hire date, 401k with match - after 90 days.

Benefits may vary based on actual hours worked regularly.
