Job Description - RSA/Medication Aide

Qualifications:



  1. Certified through WI CBRF as a Medication Aide.

  2. High school graduate or equivalent is preferred.

  3. Must be able to perform all the requirements of the nursing assistant job description.

  4. Must have no performance/attendance issues documented in the past year.

  5. Must possess good communication skills and a willingness to work with all team players.

  6. Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing practices.

  7. Previous experience in a health care facility is desired.

  8. Must have an acceptable criminal background check.


 


Status:


The Medication Aide is directly responsible to the Assisted Living Director


Essential Job Functions: 


Provides routine daily nursing care in accordance with facility and state/federal guidelines.


Specific Job Duties:



  1. Maintains an active working relationship with nursing team and ancillary departments.

  2. Promotes the concept of customer satisfaction and positive interpersonal relationships.

  3. Participates in giving and receiving report from medication aides and nursing assistants.

  4. Demonstrates ability to perform nursing assistant duties as assigned.

  5. Actively participates in care conferences and scheduled meetings as appropriate.

  6. Attends scheduled training seminars and in-services as appropriate.

  7. Ensures privacy and resident rights are maintained by the nursing team.

  8. Reviews resident aide care sheets on a regular basis

  9. Ensures vital signs and weights are completed as scheduled.

  10. Performs restorative care and range of motion as instructed

  11. Follows work assignments and/or work schedules as assigned

  12. Willing to work in other areas across the campus as needed

  13. Practices good personal hygiene and facility dress code

  14. Assumes added duties as assigned by Charge Nurse and/or supervisor

  15. Demonstrates ability to perform nursing assistant duties as assigned.

  16. Demonstrates ability to obtain pertinent information regarding residents

  17. Demonstrates ability to plan and prioritize actions before starting resident cares

  18. Performs procedures to meet individual resident needs for daily hygiene and appearance including, but not limited to, bathing, grooming, shaving, oral cares, and nail care

  19. Demonstrates proper techniques of lifting, transferring, and ambulating residents

  20. Implements special care needs including incontinence cares, special skin care, catheter care, colostomy care, and turning/positioning techniques

  21. Assists and encourages residents to take adequate diet, fluids, and supplements

  22. Recognizes physical distress and acts to provide relief for those residents

  23. Identifies and reports physical and psychological symptoms or spiritual needs to appropriate staff

  24. Allows residents the freedom of choice in details of daily living whenever possible

  25. Performs and assists with activities per activity calendar/activity daily sheets

  26. Reports any observed physical or verbal abuse to the supervisor immediately

  27. Encourages residents to participate in self care as appropriate

  28. Assists resident with the application of prosthetics when appropriate

  29. Provides diversional activities as appropriate to meet resident needs

  30. Demonstrates effective and respectful communication with residents, families, and team members

  31. Demonstrates knowledge of, and adheres to, actions to assure resident and staff safety

  32. Demonstrates proper infection control procedures and practices

  33. Complies with rules and regulations of regulatory and surveying agencies

  34. Administers medications/performs treatments per regulations at regulatory and surveying agencies


 


Physical Requirements


Must be able to:



  1. Stand and walk for long periods of time

  2. Manually lift 30-50 pounds


Pay: Without CNA: $19.00-$25.00 per hour, DOE. With CNA: $20.00-$27.00 per hour, DOE. Med Aide differential: $2 per hour. PM Shift Differential: $3 per hour. NOC Shift Differential: $5 per hour.
