This full time position will report to the Maintenance Supervisor at the Rail Shop located in St Gabriel, LA. The position will be on 1st shift Monday-Friday and requires 40 hours with possible overtime and weekend coverage. We welcome applications from both entry-level and experienced Rubber Liners to apply.


Duties / Responsibilities:


A Rubber Liner is expected to have mechanical aptitude and experience. Rubber Liners inspect interiors of rail cars/trailers/vessels/tanks, spark test, sandblast, and apply adhesives, interior linings, service equipment fittings.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Working closely with others in the railcar rubber-lining department to perform all functions relative to railcar disassembly, assembly, cleaning and spark testing of rubber-lined railcars.

  • Inspecting and repairing other rubber-lined vessels, including trailers and storage tanks.

  • Includes the tasks of sand blasting, adhesive applications, stock cutting, and lining applications.

  • The work must comply with federal regulatory and industry requirements as well as company procedures & requirements.

  • Less than 15% travel to perform rubber-lining duties at remote locations throughout the United States. 


Required Skills / Abilities



  • Ability to work quickly and accurately with attention to detail.

  • Ability to reprioritize based on current dynamics.

  • Communication – Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport; ability to proactively seek solutions using diplomacy and tact, ability to collaborate and cooperate with others.

  • Decision-making, which demonstrates sound judgment for results and is cost-efficient.

  • Railroad Knowledge – Preferably, rail and quality assurance experience.

  • On the job training will be provided.


Education and Experience: 



  • 3-5 years of mechanical experience.

  • High school education or general education (GED).

  • Experience as a Level I, II, or III Rubber Liner in the rubber lining, rail industry or related field highly desired.

  • Ability to work in a confined space.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
